We design the base of the robot as well as integrate all other systems together. We work in the chassis, drive, research, and development.

Chassis:

Design of a frame inside the boundaries of competition guidelines.

Drive:

Design wheels and tread for navigating, as well as optimizing motor selection for efficient and effective movement,

​

Research & Development:

Develop a suspension and navigation system for optimization of movement efficiency and better field maneuverability.

OPERATIONS

"We facilitate the work for the whole system"

We work in two different ways, both fabrication operations and systems operations.

Fabrication Operations:

We develop our manufacturing skills, create and oversee manufacturing guidelines and integrate designs.

​

Systems Operations:

We oversee and create system requirements and facilitate communication between the rest of the teams while developing team-wide standards.

EXCAVATION AND DEPOSITION

"Dig and dump"

We collaborate in the creation of the parts directly responsible for the mining process. We work in research, design, and manufacturing.

Research:

Be creative! We use online resources, testing, and experience to decide what is the most effective system to build. 

​

Design:

Make it concrete! We work with CAD software and various measuring tools while we use concepts created in research.

​

Manufacturing:

Bring your ideas to life! Working with Operations we fabricate and assemble our parts used BIDC machines.

POWER AND HARDWARE

"The team with all the power"

We develop, design, construct and test electronic components in collaboration with other sub-teams.

​

Develop Power Distribution System:

We work with power optimization, voltage conversions, and current regulation.

​

Design Control Infrastructure:

We create a control wiring setup.

​

Conduct Testing:

In cooperation with other sub-teams, we test sensor and mining steups as well as help spec out components.

SOFTWARE

"We develop the rover's autonomous control logic"

We center mostly on robot controls, communications, central system design, and the autonomy of our rover.

​

Robot Controls:

We design motor control, sensor feedback, and manual backup

​

Communications:

We analyze the data transfer protocols.

​

Central System Design:

We create complex system structures.

​

Autonomy:

We have different stages such as obstacle detection, pathfinding, and positioning. We use tools like a lidar, a camera, and an inertial measurement unit.
